Historical Note: The Board of Veterinary Examiners was created in 1899 (L. 1899, p. 277). Its members were appointed by the Board of Livestock Commissioners. The Board of Veterinary Examiners examined diplomas and credentials and conducted examinations of applicants for licenses to practice veterinary medicine and surgery in Illinois. After the requirements were met the Board of Livestock Commissioners issued the license. The board was abolished by the Civil Administrative Code of 1917 and its powers and duties were transferred to the newly created Department of Registration and Education.
