Historical Note: The Internal Audit Advisory Board was created by the General Assembly in 1990 under the Fiscal Control and Internal Auditing Act. The Board is responsible for promulgating a uniform set of professional standards and a code of ethics to which all State internal auditors must adhere; serving as a clearinghouse for the correlation of internal audit training needs and training designed to meet those needs; and coordinating peer review activities among the State's internal audit units. The board is comprised of 11 members: the chief internal auditor of the Department of Central Management Services; the chief internal auditor of the Office of the State Comptroller; the chief internal auditor of the Office of the Secretary of State; the chief internal auditor of the Office of the State Treasurer; the chief internal auditor of the Office of the Attorney General; and 6 chief internal auditors appointed by the Governor (P.A. 86-936).
