Historical Note: The Mississippi Scenic Parkway Commission was created in 1947 to help secure federal aid in constructing a scenic parkway along the Mississippi River as it passes through the state. It was composed of five members of the House and Senate respectfully and three persons appointed by the Governor (L. 1947, pp. 247-248). After making a final report to the General Assembly in 1951 it passed from existence (L. 1949, p. 248).
