Historical Note: The Local Government Board Selection Commission was created by the General Assembly in 1967 to study and make recommendations concerning the method of selecting the governing boards of the various types of local governmental districts, particularly those appointed by the circuit courts, and report its finding to the General Assembly by February 1, 1969. The commission was made up of five members of the Senate and five members of the House appointed respectively by the president pro tempore and the Speaker and five members appointed by the Governor. It passed from existence on July 1, 1969 (L. 1967, pp. 3326-3327).
