Sources: The Illinois Insurance Study Commission was created in 1969 to study all aspects of insurance in Illinois. It was composed of five members of the House, appointed by the Speaker, and five members of the Senate, appointed by the president pro tempore. In conducting its study the commission was to be aided by all state agencies from which the commission sought assistance. It was to report its findings to the General Assembly no later than March 1, 1971 (P.A. 76-796, p. 1628). It was reactivated in 1979 as the Insurance Laws Study Commission and was to report to the General Assembly by March 1, 1981 (P.A. 81-147, pp. 719-720). The commission's membership was expanded in 1982 to include six House and six Senate members and its life was extended to October 1, 1985 (P.A. 82-893, p. 2012).
