Historical Note: The Suburban Problems Task Force was created by the General Assembly in 1982 to identify problems unique to suburban areas, meet with concerned public officials and business leaders, conduct public hearings, conduct relevant surveys and studies, and develop recommendations for remedial legislation for the General Assembly and local governments. It was composed of one Senate member and two public members appointed by the Senate president pro tempore, one Senate member and one public member appointed by the Senate minority leader, one House member and two public members appointed by the House Speaker, one House member and one public member appointed by the House minority leader, two public members appointed by the Governor, one state employee appointed by the director of the Department of Commerce and Community Affairs, and one state employee appointed by the State Treasurer (P.A. 82-893, pp. 2010-2011). The task force was abolished by the Legislative Commission Reorganization Act of 1984 (P.A. 83-1257, p. 1176).
