Name: High-Rise Fire Commission - RG 578

Historical Note: The High-Rise Fire Commission was created by the General Assembly in 1981 to study ways by which fires in high-rise buildings can be prevented and means by which loss of life, personal injury, and property damage can be minimized. It was to prepare an informational pamphlet for distribution to high-rise residents and a manual of technical procedures for local fire departments. The commission was composed of three House members appointed by the Speaker, three Senate members appointed by the president pro tempore, and three knowledgeable members appointed by the Governor. The State Fire Marshal served as an ex officio member. It was to report to the General Assembly regularly (P.A. 82-706, pp. 3787-3788). The commission was abolished by the Legislative Commission Reorganization Act of 1984 (P.A. 83-1257, p. 1175).
