Name: Telecommunications Commission - RG 562

Historical Note: The Telecommunications Commission was created in 1967 and its members included the Superintendent of Public Instruction and twelve persons appointed by the Governor. It was charged with conducting a comprehensive study of telecommunications needs in the state and with establishing guidelines and priorities to implement its objectives in accordance with its findings. Further, the Superintendent of Public Instruction was authorized to establish, maintain, and operate a Department for Instructional Television and Radio Materials Development and Production for dissemination to local school districts and other educational institutions. The commission reported its findings to the General Assembly in 1969 at which time it expired (L. 1967, p. 2026).
