Historical Note: The Railroad Grade Crossing Commission was created in 1969. It was composed of five members each from the House and Senate and the Chief Railroad Engineer of the Illinois Commerce Commission. It was charged with investigating the number of railway trains blocking grade crossings and means for alleviating the same. It reported its findings and recommendations to the General Assembly in 1971 at which time it expired (P.A. 76-786, pp. 1615-1616).
