Name: New York World's Fair Commission - RG 519

Historical Note: The New York World's Fair Commission was created in 1963. It was composed of five members each from the House and Senate and seven persons appointed by the Governor. The executive director of the Board of Economic Development served as secretary of the commission. Its duties were to make arrangements for active participation by Illinois in the 1964-1965 New York World's Fair. It was authorized to select a site on the New York World's Fair grounds, erect a building, and prepare exhibits. It made a final accounting to the General Assembly in 1966 at which time it expired (L. 1963, p. 1418).
